An internship is one of the major experiences that are highly recommended for undergraduate students. Especially as a computer science student, gaining relevant work experience is essential for improving your employability. That’s why, after my third year at Bennett University, I chose to intern for a part of the summer.

I undertook an eight-week summer internship at KainSkep from June 2022 to July 2022. Kainskep is a global technology and analytics services company. With their specialized service offerings and consultative business strategy, they assist clients in achieving speed-to-market, overcoming digital barriers, and creating business value.

To ensure that the confidentiality and anonymity of their clients were maintained, the first thing we had to do was sign non-disclosure agreements. We then had a mentor assigned to us. At the end of each day, we were to report back to our mentor with any queries and a summary of our activities.

During my first week, I was given small tasks and a course to refresh my understanding of ReactJS and the MERN stack. Over the next weeks, I used those skills to develop various responsive components such as app dashboards, authentication systems, maps, data grids, and user forms. I also implemented effective APIs to add and retrieve data and authenticate users, to integrate with the front-end. I also worked on the blog section for their website. I developed the admin dashboard with proper authentication to add blogs and implement APIs to add and retrieve blogs.

After 1 month, I started learning Angular and MEAN stack. I had some previous knowledge of React but Angular was new to me and comparatively difficult. But the course provided for Angular was very helpful and provided a very deep understanding of the concepts which made it easier. I learned Angular alongside doing small tasks which help me gain a better understanding of it. I was assigned to another project where I implemented the user registration and sign-in page and user forms for storing other information.

During my eight weeks at KainSkep, I acquired various technical skills in Angular, React, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, API Development, and Material UI. I also gained experience working in a startup environment and a better understanding of working and collaborating with a team. Along with building a new network, I also acquired some fresh references. I also received a certification of completion. But most significantly, I developed a new sense of professionalism and a better understanding of what it meant to be in the professional world.
